Wholesale Lot Of 3 Fixed Wet Specimen Chicks

3 mixed bantam chicks for wholesale. Fully prepared and ready for your choice of jar, dome or glass vessel.

Fixed with formalin and stored in a 65mm glass dome.

These chicks are an excellent opportunity if you wanted to put them into your own vessel for resale. These chicks can be kept inside this dome until you're ready to work with them.

We'll include extra:

3ml 10% thymol solution spray for sanitizing and spraying specimen in case of emergency (dropped on the floor or touched an unsanitary surface) you can also spray down your work area down to sanitize it.

Alcohol wipes to wipe your area down before and after and/or any tools you're using.

About the chicks:

These chicks did not hatch; the reason is unknown, but a lot of the time if a chick didn't hatch, there was an underlying health issue, and this is natural selection. You will observe that they have not fully absorbed their egg sac into their body yet. There is 1 dark, 1 yellow, and 1 lilac. Breed: Mixed bantams.

What you need: -Your choice of suspension solution. These are currently in glycerine, but you can use 70% isopropyl or 70% ethanol if you do not wish to use pure glycerine. Specimens come with 1 65mm glass dome with a base, but you can use your own jars. Just make sure they're glass. I don't recommend using jars with tin lids, as they can rust. Safe to handle! These have been fixed with a 10% clear neutral buffered formalin, but they have been drained and leeched of formalin and are now safe to handle. We recommend always using gloves though when working with various substances.

These chicks are currently stored in: Ethanol

Glycerine storage: pure vegetable glycerine can be used. These specimens have already absorbed enough thymol (an antibacterial/antifungal agent), and you won't need to add anymore. Glycerine can last a lifetime and will not need changing unless the vessel is broken or the owner wishes to change the solution or vessel.

70% Isopropyl Alcohol Storage: isopropyl alcohol is readily available and probably the most common solution used with wet specimens. Alcohol-based solutions do need a bit of maintenance and should be changed yearly or every 6 months. If the solution goes yellow, that is an indication to change your solution, but discoloration won't harm your specimen; it's more for appearance.

70% Ethanol Storage: ethanol isn't as readily available as isopropyl but can be ordered in. Ethanol is a good choice to help a specimen maintain its colour a little better over time.Like the isopropyl alcohol, ethanol should be changed yearly or every 6 months when discoloration starts.

Always be safe when working with chemicals even if they are safe household products. Irritation can occur anytime and gloves should be worn when handling specimens for your safety and to prevent bacterial transfer. Always work in a clean and sanitized space when removing specimen from solution.

Keep out of reach of children.
